St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish in Mabolo, Cebu City, began as part of the Parish of San Nicolas and later Opon during the Spanish era, officially becoming its own parish on April 3, 1850, after a Royal Approval was granted in 1847. The place, once called Talamban, was renamed Mabolo when the church gained parish status, and the current neo-Gothic structure was built in the 1920s.
Dedicated to St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus and patron saint of workers, the church features a historic bell from 1892 and a columbarium at the rear. It serves a bustling community in Cebu’s business district, drawing worshippers for its serene atmosphere and strong spiritual presence.
