Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, better known as Barasoain Church, in Malolos, Bulacan, was first built in 1630 but took its current stone form in 1885 under Augustinian friars. It became a parish in 1859 and is tied to history as the site of the First Philippine Republic’s inauguration in 1899, earning it the nickname “Cradle of Democracy in the East.”
Dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the church features a simple yet striking facade and a bell tower that was added in the 1890s. Its feast day is July 16, and today it serves as a historical landmark with a nearby museum managed by the National Historical Commission.
