The Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod at SM Seaside Cebu was dedicated on November 29, 2012, just before a National Thanksgiving Mass for the canonization of St. Pedro Calungsod, the second Filipino saint, who was martyred in Guam in 1672. Donated by Henry Sy Sr. and Felicidad Sy to the Archdiocese of Cebu, it was the first structure built in the SM Seaside Complex.
Designed by US-based architect Carlos Arnaiz, the chapel sits on a 5,001-square-meter lot and features 100 unique concrete walls, with a capacity for 803 people. It’s a modern, air-conditioned space near the mall, complete with a baptistry, children’s room, and sunken gardens marking the Stations of the Cross.
